An OSHA "competent person" is defined as "one who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in the surroundings or working conditions which are unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous to employees, and who has authorization to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate them" [29 CFR 1926.32(f)].
Risk assessment is defined as an overall process for the management of safety; a process that involves looking at the risks we face and ensuring adequate safety measures have been put into place.
Course Objectives:
After completing this course, you should be able to:
- Define the roles of agency’s Public Works Competent Person based on authority and responsibility.
- Develop and administer an agency specific health and safety plan.
