Description
The class will review the requirements of a competent person, heath hazards associated with silica exposure, a review of common sources of silica and tasks that create the exposure, including exposure levels. Control methods, exposure monitoring, industry data, and use of Table 1 will be discussed and used to determine the appropriate level of protection and possible need for medical monitoring. Housekeeping and control of silica dust will be reviewed. In addition, a review of the exposure control plan and recordkeeping requirements will be completed. We will also review common tools used and the control methods needed, including tool maintenance requirements.
